Meet Our Principal

Tressie Dust McDonough is the principal of UIC College Prep, where she is deeply committed to ensuring all scholars have the opportunity to achieve excellent educational outcomes. Tressie started her career in education as a Teacher For America ‘03 Corps Member in Chicago after graduating from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Mathematics. As a TFA Corps Member, she taught high school mathematics for three years at Benito Juarez Community Academy where she also coached the cross country team. Inspired by the Noble Way, she then joined the team as a Founding Math Teacher at Pritzker College Prep, a Noble Street Charter School.  Motivated to have a larger impact on the Noble mission, she pursued a M.A. in Organization & Leadership from Columbia University in the City of New York and helped to open UIC College Prep as the Founding Assistant Principal. After three years as A.P. she was given the opportunity to serve the UICCP community as Principal. Under her leadership, UIC College Prep reached unprecedented levels of student achievement and is the highest performing open-enrollment high school in Chicago.
